Welcoming 2016

Me and my lovely boy spent new years in Reykjavik. It was stunning! We didn't get to see the northern lights unfortunately instead we had every type of snow and hail imaginable. We couldn't get into the blue lagoon as it was fully booked until February, instead we went to Friðheimar, Geysir, Gullfoss, and þingvellir national park. It was stunning and refreshingly cold and crisp. Which was good because the night before we had attempted to drink everything in Iceland!
I would definitely recommend a trip there to anyone, including K-bar restaurant (Korean, Japanese, fusion) and Íslenski Barinn for food. But would avoid Tabasco Mexican restaurant at all costs!
The Best Western hotel was comfy, but had a few kinks that should be ironed out like the WiFi (or lack thereof), and their definition of a double room needs attention but the majority of the staff were friendly and helpful regardless of the hour. I cannot agree however with Keflavik airports claim that they are the best airport in Europe. Check in was easy but baggage was an uninformed nightmare.

So back in England with a new year ahead. There will be hard work as I move to self employment, fun to be had at some spectacular events, the boy turns 30, and hopefully more countries will be seen.
To get this all kicked off in the most positive way possible today marks the beginning of a carbless fortnight. I have entered 2016 at an uncomfortable 67.7kg, which admittedly is not any more than before Christmas, so that's a positive. My goal is to drop 5kg by my birthday in a month....fingers crossed!
